dont eat thereWhat can i do as an individual to help bring down the Mcdonalds monopoly?
McDonalds has a monopoly? On what? Or are you referring to McDonalds running the game Monopoly as a promotion? If that's what bothers you, don't play it and encourage others not to.
But let's say you're referring to McDonalds monopoly in providing food. Oh, there are other restaurants both large and small that compete with them to sell food. Okay, their monopoly of cheap ($1 or less) food. Oh, other chains like Taco Bell and Burger King offer $1 and less items. Their monopoly on fast food? Oh, Taco Bell, Wendy's, Burger King, KFC, Dominos, Pizza Hut, Papa John's, Jack-in-the-Box, In-N-Out, Five Guys and Whataburger all compete against them.
So I don't know what you're asking for. If you don't like what they sell, don't buy from them and encourage others not to. But first, have a *good* reason why lest someone think you're stupid for saying something obviously wrong.
There are a lot of legitimate reasons not to like McDonalds including their marketing tactics to encourage people to eat things that are not good for them (My own weakness; repeat in Homer Simpson or zombie voice, "Oooh! McRib! Oh, So tasty!") They also settled 700 complaints of people being burned by their coffee being excessively hot, privately so people didn't know about it, until one lady refused to settle and the only reason they stopped serving their coffee at injuriously hot temperatures is she won a large public judgment which people ridiculed ("Some woman got a big settlement for burning herself with McDonalds coffee.")
But they are a commercial provider of food in a competitive market that offers different things to different people. They are not the Post Office; nobody has to go there, nobody has to buy from them. They compete openly and fairly - unlike Microsoft, AT%26amp;T, IBM, and many other large companies - there's been no antitrust actions lodged against them and no one's accused them of using market power to unfairly target competitors.
Your complaint reminds me of the nasty sneers against Procter and Gamble where competitors used innuendo and falsehoods like accusing the company of supporting Satanic practices or claiming its president of being on a Saturday episode of Phil Donohue claiming they were even though he never appeared on Donohue and Donohue didn't even have a Saturday program; it took years and even lawsuits to stop these sorts of lies against a company that had done nothing wrong.
If you dislike McDonalds, have a good reason and be willing to explain why it's something others should support if you oppose them. And then that, is what you can do; offer a reason for people not to go there. But do so for the right reasons; know what you're talking about.
monopoly? I wouldnt go that far..
still plenty of other fast food chains around...

Why McDonalds? Why not ConAgra, Monsanto, Cargill, Tyson or some other company that is much worse?
Come up with a better tasting burger at a cheaper price. Faster service at the counter and no drive by window, which I hate. I will do business with you. What can i do as an individual to help bring down the Mcdonalds monopoly?
