yes it is perfectly safe. mcdonalds is not running a scam site just make sure that you are typeing the address in correctly. Also the lock bar might be a safety feature that the site/browser has to show you that it is safe. But that varries with the browser you are using etc. The registering is to confirm that you are a real person and if you win anything that you can claim the prize.
